Letting
go of all that holds us back
part
one
When
we open our hands to give God the thing that we have been
clinging to, He replaces it with something so much better.
Matthew
19: 29 And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters
or father or mother or children or fields for my sake will
receive a hundred times as much and will inherit eternal
life.
Its
easy to find out where we are lacking in trust of God by
trusting in something else instead. The things that we cling
to for security are the things that we often fear losing
. But when our security is in God alone we will never need
to be afraid.....Everything else has the potential to let
us down eventually, but God never will.
I
don't know about you. I've not arrived at that place of
fully trusting yet but I'm not where I used to be either.
Its a life long journey into maturity, letting go and trusting
God, and sometime we regress into our comfort zones for
a while; Its all part of growing. It can be two steps forward
and one back. My children needed comfort blankets and dummies
to keep them happy, it took a while to finally "wean"
them from these "securities" but we got there
in the end. Similarly the Lord wants us to grow into maturity..
The
eagle pulls the feathers out of the nest when its time for
her egrets to fly. Things become rather uncomfortable for
the fledglings for a while, so they will not be so reluctant
to leave the nest. Similarly the Lord won't let us settle
for less than the very best and only in Him will we "soar
in confidence and freedom".
God
allows the things that can be shaken to be shaken so that
we will learn to build our trust in Him, His word and promises...
for our supply and security, and be built on an eternal
foundation.
Luke 21:33 Heaven and earth shall
pass away: but my words shall not pass away..
Therefore,
since we are receiving a Kingdom that cannot be shaken,
let us be thankful and so worship God acceptably with reverence
and awe, for our God is a consuming fire.
