Food for thought  17th May 10

“Faith makes all things possible.... love makes all things easy.”

Just Joking

There once was a rich man who was near death. He was very grieved because he had worked so hard for his money and he wanted to be able to take it with him to heaven. So he began to pray that he might be able to take some of his wealth with him.

An angel hears his plea and appears to him. "Sorry, but you can't
take your wealth with you." The man implores the angel to speak to God to see if He might bend the rules.

The man continues to pray that his wealth could follow him. The angel reappears and informs the man that God has decided to allow him to take one suitcase with him. Overjoyed, the man gathers his largest suitcase and fills it with pure gold bars and places it beside his bed.

Soon afterward the man dies and shows up at the Gates of Heaven to
greet St. Peter. St. Peter seeing the suitcase says, "Hold on, you
can't bring that in here!"

But, the man explains to St. Peter that he has permission and asks him to verify his story with the Lord. Sure enough, St. Peter checks and comes back saying, "You're right. You are allowed one carry-on bag, but I'm supposed to check its contents before letting it through."

St. Peter opens the suitcase to inspect the worldly items that the man found too precious to leave behind and exclaims, "You brought
pavement?!!!"

Psalm 37
1Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity.

2For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb.

3Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.

4Delight thyself also in the LORD: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.

5Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.

6And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday.

7Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.

8Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil.

9For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the LORD, they shall inherit the earth.

10For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be: yea, thou shalt diligently consider his place, and it shall not be.

11But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.

What the Lord is saying Today

Power

Acts 3: 1 - Acts 4:4

When Peter and John healed the man who'd been lame from birth at the gate Beautiful, people gathered round marvelling at the great wonder of this healed man leaping about praising God. Consequently 5,000 men believed in Jesus because of this miracle. Goodness knows how many women and children and then those who would come to believe through them..... the numbers that were added to the church because of this miracle were phenomenal!!

By signs and wonders God drew the people to believe in Jesus. People were and still are hungry to see the supernatural. They want to believe that there is a God who loves them.

Power in earthen vessels

And when Peter saw it, he answered unto the people, Ye men of Israel, why marvel ye at this? or why look ye so earnestly on us, as though by our own power or holiness we had made this man to walk? .

Peter was acknowledging that in his own self that he was powerless to have done this miracle. God chooses the ordinary things of this world to display His wonders through. In fact if you think that you aren't good enough, strong enough, intelligent enough, good looking enough, or any other enough, for God to use.....YOU QUALIFY.

But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us. 2Co 4:7

In fact if your waiting to become perfect for God to use you, you'lll be waiting a long time. If you are going through the mill, God can use you in even greater measure. Paul took delight in his weaknesses because he knew that in his weakness was God's strength.

And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong. 2Co 12:9-10

The Power of the Name of Jesus

And when Peter and John were questioned, by the grieved powers that be, "By what power, or by what name, have ye done this?" they answered....

"Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole". Acts 4:10

By the name of Jesus and by His resurrection power. If we are to see people coming to know Jesus we need to understand the power that we have in the Name of Jesus.

The word exousia in Greek means authority, jurisdiction, liberty,
power, right, strength, domain, control.

We have the same rights, authority and jurisdiction as Jesus did, when we speak in the Name of Jesus,

Behold, I give unto you power (Exousia) to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Luk 10:19

When was the last time we spoke to someone lame with authority.....

"IN THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST OF NAZARETH RISE UP AND WALK".

And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength.

And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God.
Act 3: 7 & 8

THIS WAS NORMAL BEHAVIOUR FOR THE CHRISTIANS IN ACTS.

Now thats... FOOD FOR THOUGHT!!!!

Sponsored Walk

Message from Anita Ball

As you may already know a team of us went out to India in December of last year to visit with Brother Raju (who is also a medical doctor) and he took us round the tribal villages of Tenali that he cares for. He took us to many tribal villages but the one that needs our help now is the one in Guntur. This village is right next to a rubbish dump and they are desperately in need of a bore well. We need to raise at least £600 for this well to be dug and so I am going to do a walk around Dovedale at the end of June and for those of you who would like to sponsor me then please get in touch with either myself or Shirley to donate. There are so many good things that Brother Raju does for his people that if we are blessed to have more money than we need for the well this will then be spent feeding the children of the villages and helping Brother Raju provide medical care for all the tribal villages. I pray that God will put it in your heart to help these people. God bless to you all. Your sister in Christ Jesus xxx

What the Lord is saying today

17th May

The Lord is saying.   What has happened to shake your confidence? Could it be that you have been listening to the enemies lies? No child there is not disaster ahead, for I have promised my plans are good and not of evil. Therefore, breath in my comfort and assurance, and walk ahead confidently knowing that there is nothing to fear, for I am at your side and holding you up with my strong right hand. I will not let you down..

19th May

The Lord is saying.   I am with you, remember the words I have spoken. Do not waste time getting involved in arguments about the kingdom. I am the one who will vindicate in my time. Keep running the race and do not look into the stands where the hecklers are vying for your attention. Run the race, for you are closer to the finishing line, in these recent battles than you know.. You are close to breakthrough.

20th May

The Lord is saying.  For I told you to run the race and to focus your attention on the finishing line. The race is not over yet. Therefore run, run like the wind and gain all that I have for you. The prize is in sight
