Food for thought    5th June 09 Weekend

Would you keep a chive on your tooth just because you enjoyed last night's potato?
~From the television show Boston Common

The Lord is saying...I Am with you, I Am here and now. I Am not in the future. I Am not in the past. Therefore do not live in the past, you will not find Me there. Do not live in the future, you will not find Me there. Live in the now. You will find Me here and you will find peace and you will find hope for the future. Live in today I tell you and you will find I Am sufficient.

Matthew 6: 34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

Its when we take the burdens of tomorrow on and the regrets of the past that our heart is weighed down with too heavy a load. We are only given today, and we are promised that the Lord will take care of tomorrow and He will use yesterday in His redemptive plan. Spending the currency of today, that we have been given, by sowing good seeds, making right decisions and walking in the Spirit brings us into the joy, healing and peace that God intended for mankind. God made it simple... its us that makes it complicated.

What doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?Micah 6:8

When we make a mistake its important to learn from it but then to leave it behind. Regret is a mistake in itself. The enemy not only tempts us make a wrong decision but then milks it by trying to get us to live in the past. Its important to know that God isn't looking at what we did in the past but what we are doing NOW. This gets are focus on the job in hand, with today's work, which brings with it peace and healing.

I heard a story of a lady who was sent home to die of terminal cancer. She decided to live her life just as if she had a future. She got on with her everyday tasks even when it was difficult, as though she was fully healed. Within months she was fully cured. There is something about living for the present that connects us to eternity and in that dimension is life and life in all of its fullness.

A Brand New day

Thank you Lord for forgiving me,
Not being all I was meant to be
You made for me another
brand new day
Its a treasure box to fill for you.
A foundation, so I can build anew
A path of golden promise for me you lay

For you give me a future
that is sparkling new.
Your cross stands between where
I've been and where I'm going to.
The success and sin of yesterday,
the tide has come and washed away.
So I can fully concentrate on you.

The sunrise brings another day,
Your blood has washed my past away.
Your mercies and grace
stand for me anew.
So I give a fresh start to all that may,
have failed or hurt me yesterday
Well! That's the very least that I can do.

For the past I'm grateful Lord.
It states clearly in your word
You redeem it all
with your precious blood.
Safe in your creative hands,
weaving it in your wondrous plan.
And working all things
together for my good
