Food for thought   16th July 09

The Lord is saying...Do not be afraid of anything but step into my perfect plan for your day today. You will find that all things will flow with and ease and a harmony and that provision and strength will come to you easily. The angels work too on your behalf and you will see opposition fall away. So do not be afraid of anything but make your 'fear' in putting my will as your priority.

Many times we have to go against what we personally feel to believe and act upon the word of God. Isaiah says that God's ways are higher than our ways and His thoughts higher than our thoughts. Our natural disposition and upbringing and traditions can be in direct opposition to the way that God thinks. That is why it is so important that we let the word of God dwell richly within us and to act it out. Isaiah also tells us that God's word will perfom that which it was sent out to do. Just as the snow and the rain brings the harvest. So God's word will bring about a harvest in our lives.

Isaiah 55 8 -11 "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways," declares the LORD. "As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish,
so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.

A vision of snow

A few weeks ago a friend of mine had a vision of snow. Everything was covered and there was a silence... All was still. I had an immediate interpretation from Isaiah 55, I knew that we have to lay down our own thoughts and eat the word of God, no matter what the circumstances and what our own feelings dictated. The snow represented the Word of God. Sometimes thats all we can see. Just like we cannot see the life going on underneath the snow and the hard ground, sometimes we cannot see the manifestations of the promises for our own life yet. But that is what faith is... it does not look to the seen but to the unseen, yet it produces for us an eternal weight of glory.. We can be truly assured, as immutable as the seasons changing year after year, that God is at work in our lives too.. Just like when the trees look dead and the ground barren, new life is surely going to spring into being, so there is a surety that behind the scenes that God is working, bringing about the new life, in our lives too.....

Recently my friend who had seen the vision, was taking photographs of the beautiful colourful flowers in her back garden. As she was viewing the photos, the camera suddenly reverted to show a picture she had taken of her garden when it was covered in snow. She was so amazed at the difference and how things could have changed so dramatically. She knew that the Lord had confirmed His vision to her.

Isaiah 55
Invitation to the Thirsty
1 "Come, all you who are thirsty,
come to the waters;
and you who have no money,
come, buy and eat!
Come, buy wine and milk
without money and without cost.

2 Why spend money on what is not bread,
and your labor on what does not satisfy?
Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good,
and your soul will delight in the richest of fare.

3 Give ear and come to me;
hear me, that your soul may live.
I will make an everlasting covenant with you,
my faithful love promised to David.

4 See, I have made him a witness to the peoples,
a leader and commander of the peoples.

5 Surely you will summon nations you know not,
and nations that do not know you will hasten to you,
because of the LORD your God,
the Holy One of Israel,
for he has endowed you with splendor."

6 Seek the LORD while he may be found;
call on him while he is near.

7 Let the wicked forsake his way
and the evil man his thoughts.
Let him turn to the LORD, and he will have mercy on him,
and to our God, for he will freely pardon.

8 "For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways,"
declares the LORD.

9 "As the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts.

10 As the rain and the snow
come down from heaven,
and do not return to it
without watering the earth
and making it bud and flourish,
so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater,

11 so is my word that goes out from my mouth:
It will not return to me empty,
but will accomplish what I desire
and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.

12 You will go out in joy
and be led forth in peace;
the mountains and hills
will burst into song before you,
and all the trees of the field
will clap their hands.

13 Instead of the thornbush will grow the pine tree,
and instead of briers the myrtle will grow.
This will be for the LORD's renown,
for an everlasting sign,
which will not be destroyed"

Creation Inspired.

The glory of God is revealed

In the sunset

In the change of the tides

On the hills

In the plains

His love is around us

and wonderfully lifts us,

as the scent of the hawthorn

is released in the lanes

His creation inspires us

To move out in wonder,

to partake of his love

In the rain and the snows

to walk midst the bluebells

and lift hearts of wonder

at the form and the hue

of the snowdrop and sloe..
