Spurgeon.
Marvellous lovingkindness.
- Psa_17:7
When we give our hearts with our alms, we give well, but we must
often plead to a failure in this respect. Not so our Master and
our Lord. His favours are always performed with the love of his
heart. He does not send to us the cold meat and the broken pieces
from the table of his luxury, but he dips our morsel in his own
dish, and seasons our provisions with the spices of his fragrant
affections. When he puts the golden tokens of his grace into our
palms, he accompanies the gift with such a warm pressure of our
hand, that the manner of his giving is as precious as the boon itself.
He will come into our houses upon his errands of kindness, and he
will not act as some austere visitors do in the poor mans
cottage, but he sits by our side, not despising our poverty, nor
blaming our weakness. Beloved, with what smiles does he speak! What
golden sentences drop from his gracious lips! What embraces of affection
does he bestow upon us! If he had but given us farthings, the way
of his giving would have gilded them; but as it is, the costly alms
are set in a golden basket by his pleasant carriage. It is impossible
to doubt the sincerity of his charity, for there is a bleeding heart
stamped upon the face of all his benefactions. He giveth liberally
and upbraideth not. Not one hint that we are burdensome to him;
not one cold look for his poor pensioners; but he rejoices in his
mercy, and presses us to his bosom while he is pouring out his life
for us. There is a fragrance in his spikenard which nothing but
his heart could produce; there is a sweetness in his honey-comb
which could not be in it unless the very essence of his souls
affection had been mingled with it. Oh! the rare communion which
such singular heartiness effecteth! May we continually taste and
know the blessedness of it!

The Lord
is saying..... Do not be afraid for I know all things and
I understand all things. Yet you have a limited view and haven't
got the full picture yet. So wait upon me for I will reveal
all that you need to know to make your decisions and to know
the next step to take. Wait, I say until you see the fuller
picture.
Love
- The greatest gift of all - Part 2
1
Corinthians 13:3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed
the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have
not love, it profits me nothing.
We
saw yesterday that without love our efforts our futile. Just
Imagine that you could give all of your earthly goods to the
poor or even give your life up and it could all be in vain.
(it brings to mind the suicide bombers).
I
have known many people who knew how to listen to the Lord
in a wonderful way.. One particular man was marvellous when
I desperately needed a word from God. He would just tell me
exactly what the Lord was saying, and it would be absolutely
spot on.. Yet his life ended up in ruins because in one area
of his life he constantly heard wrongly. Until recently, I
could not understand how sometimes it can go so badly pear-shaped,
when someone seems so sincere to hear and follow God. The
Lord gave me my answer.... LOVE...
Proverbs
4 23 ....Keep your heart with all diligence, For out of it
spring the issues of life.
We
need to check our hearts... Are we concerned about the other
person? Are we seeking to glorify God? Are we really looking
to see what is best for the building up of the Kingdom of
God. Or are we looking to make sure we look good in the eyes
of others, feather our nest or further our own purposes? Will
it cause embarassment, captivity, pain in another if we act
on what we think the Lord is saying?
We
have a safeguard against being deceived. If what we
are hearing is not LOVE.... it isn't God.
